Is-sinjal għal DUDU TAL-FARFETT għandu tlett partijiet: (jew i) l-ewwel isir is-sinjal għal DUDU. Id waħda titla’ mal-livell ta’ l-ispalla bil-pala tal-id tħares lejn l-art. L-id l-ewwel tieħu l-forma ta’ X. Imbagħad il-werrej jiddritta biex jersaq ftit ’il quddiem, jerġa’ jitgħawweġ u jerġa’ jiddritta u b’hekk ikompli miexi bil-mod bħal dudu; (jew ii) Għat-tieni parti jsir is-sinjal għal WARA. Id waħda tieħu l-forma ta’ 1 bil-pala tħares ’il ġewwa. Il-werrej idur ’l fuq u ’l quddiem. (jew iii) Għat-tielet parti jsir is-sinjal għal FARFETT. L-idejn jieħdu l-forma ta’ 5, bil-pala tħares lejn il-wiċċ. Id-dirgħajn jissalbu u s-swaba’ l-kbar jistrieħu kontra xulxin waqt li s-swaba’ l-oħra jperpru bħall-ġwienaħ ta’ farfett.
Is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR isir b’ id waħda u bis-saba’ l-kbir qrib tal-werrej, jiġi wara s-sinjal għal DUDU TAL-FARFETT, u jindika dudu tal-farfett żgħir. Is-sinjal għal KBIR isir b’id waħda forma ta’ Ċ miftuħa skond id-daqs mixtieq, u tintuża biex tindika dudu tal-farfett kbir.
Għall-plural, l-id fil-forma ta’ X tintuża bħala classifier u titqiegħed f’punti differenti fiż-żona tas-sinjali qisu hemmhekk qed jitqiegħdu ħafna dud tal-farfett. Inkella jista’ jintuża s-sinjal għal ĦAFNA wara s-sinjal għal DUDU TAL-FARFETT.
Meta n-nom DUDU TAL-FARFETT ikun is-suġġett ta’ verb ta’ moviment tintuża classifier. L-id tieħu l-forma ta’ X u timxi skond l-azzjoni tal-verb.
This sign is made up of three parts: (jew i) The first part is the sign for WORM. One hand is placed at shoulder level with the palm facing the ground. The hand first forms an X shape. Then the index finger straightens out, moving forward a little, then curves back and straightens out again thus continuing to move forward slowly like a worm. (jew ii) The second part is the sign for AFTER. The index finger, with the palm facing inwards, turns upwards and forwards. (jew iii) The third part is the sign for BUTTERFLY. It is made with the hands in the 5 shape crossed over in the opposite direction with palms facing the body. The thumbs lean against each other crossed over to hold the butterfly shape whilst the fingers move lightly like the butterfly’s wings.
The sign for SMALL, made with one hand, with the thumb close to the index finger, is used after the sign for CATERPILLAR to refer to a small worm. The sign for BIG, made with a C shaped hand and opening according to the desired size, is used to refer to a big caterpillar.
For the plural, the hand in the shape of X is used as a classifier. It is placed at various places in the signing space as though many caterpillars were being placed there. The sign for MANY may also be used after the sign for CATERPILLAR instead.
When the noun CATERPILLAR is the subject of a verb of movement a classifier is used. The hand in the shape of X moves according to the action indicated by the verb.
